House Concerts

For those of you who are not familiar with the idea of a House Concert, this page is for you.

House Concerts are the new old way of attending a concert. Historically, musicians would travel from house to house, town to town, playing in parlours of homeowners in exchange for a place to sleep, a meal, and some payment. 'Singing for your supper' for want of a better term.

That time has come around again. With major changes to music distribution, musicians are taking more control over their touring careers. House Concerts offer musicians to play to a room of people who are there specifically to enjoy their music, and to connect with their audience. House Concerts offer an audience the opportunity to take in an intimate show with friends and neighbours without the hassle of having to drive Downtown, find and pay for parking, and get out at the end of the night. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with the performers during breaks and to support a vibrant independent music scene. And maybe, just maybe get turned on to a new artist that they never would have had the opportunity to check out before.
